The creation of the battleship Tirpitz
The Tirpitz was the second of two battleships of the Bismarck class built for the Kriegsmarine. Named after Grand Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz, the ship was launched on April 1, 1939, and completed in February 1941. It was a powerful ship with a displacement about 2,000 tons higher than its sister ship, the Bismarck, and was armed with eight 38 cm main guns in four twin turrets. The Tirpitz was intended to serve as a deterrent, control the northern Norwegian waters, and secure German interests in the Arctic and the Atlantic.
"Floating Fortress"
During its service time, the Tirpitz rarely left the Norwegian fjords and functioned as a "floating fortress."
Its presence forced the Royal Navy to station significant forces in the northern waters to deter a possible attack by a German battleship. In 1943, the ship participated in the bombardment of Allied positions on Spitsbergen and was simultaneously targeted by British special operations and numerous air raids.
On November 12, 1944, the Tirpitz was finally sunk by Lancaster bombers with "Tallboy" bombs, thus ending its history as a symbol of German naval power.
Building this model not only offers the satisfaction of precise assembly but also the opportunity to better understand the history and technology of World War II warships.
