The origin and significance of the battleship Bismarck
The Bismarck was the first of two battleships of the Bismarck class built for the German Kriegsmarine. Launched on February 14, 1939, and commissioned in August 1940, the HMS Bismarck represented the pinnacle of German engineering in battleship construction.
The ship was characterized by its enormous displacement (over 45,000 tons), its heavy armor, and its main armament, featuring eight 380 mm guns in four twin turrets.
In May 1941, the Bismarck undertook its only combat cruise into the Atlantic. Its objective was to attack Allied convoys. The climax of the operation was the Battle of the Denmark Strait, where the Bismarck sank the British battlecruiser HMS Hood, the pride of the Royal Navy. This success made the German battleship the primary target of the British fleet.
After an intense pursuit, the Bismarck was surrounded and heavily damaged on May 26, 1941, by 15 Fairley Swordfish torpedo bombers. One day later, a fleet of British battleships reached the Bismarck and sank the damaged giant after a short engagement.
Although its service life was short, it went down in history as one of the most famous warships in the world.
Why you should add the Bismarck model to your collection:
3,204 parts – the large number of building bricks enables an incredibly detailed reproduction of the battleship's structure. The long, captivating building process offers the highest satisfaction.
Scale 1:300 – the model looks incredibly realistic and perfectly captures the power of the historical original. It will be the centerpiece of any naval collection.
High-quality prints – the set contains no stickers; all markings, details, and symbols are printed directly onto the building bricks, guaranteeing durability and a perfect appearance for years.
Realistic functionality – movable elements such as armament and propellers, as well as removable parts of the propulsion system, increase the realism of the model and make it not only a display piece but also an interactive element.
Realistic interior – A removable section of the upper deck allows a view into the detailed ship interior, thereby increasing the realism and collector value of the model.
Pedestal with collector plaque – The elegant pedestal ensures stable standing and contains a plaque with the ship's name and scale, fitting perfectly into any display case.
Fun to build and display piece – Once assembled, the model becomes an impressive decorative object that draws all eyes and underscores the passion for history and militaria.
This model is ideal for anyone who expects more than just a simple reproduction. Scale, number of bricks, and the feeling of creating a legend are decisive.
