Description

Build a symbol of speed and risk in 1:48 scale and add it to your collection. The Lockheed F-104 STARFIGHTER kit offers the unique opportunity to build a beautifully reproduced model of the aircraft used in the Vietnam War to defend against MiGs.

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was the first mass-produced aircraft to exceed twice the speed of sound. The aircraft was operated by 14 countries and produced under license in six countries.

Vietnam War

During the Vietnam War, the USAF's Starfighters showed exceptional performance in air-to-air combat. They were armed with a six-barreled 20mm M61A1 Vulcan rotary cannon. With a rate of fire of 6,000 rounds per minute, the cannon emptied its drum magazine in just over seven seconds of continuous fire.

In addition, the aircraft could carry up to 1,814 kg (4,000 lbs) of underwing load, including AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles and bombs.

The main task of the F-104 Starfighter in Southeast Asia was to protect Lockheed EC-121D Warning Star aircraft patrolling the North Vietnamese coast. Pairs of F-104Cs were also to fly over North Vietnam as weather reconnaissance aircraft ahead of the attack formation. Their high speed allowed them to gather weather information about the target before attacking in daylight.

Although the F-104 was an incredibly difficult and unforgiving aircraft to fly, it was valued in Vietnam for its ability to deter MiGs and ensure the safety of escort aircraft. And in these roles, the F-104 proved to be unmatched at the time.

With the COBI Lockheed F-104 STARFIGHTER set, you can own your own version of this combat-ready aircraft and add it to your collection!

Easy to build!

Why choose the Lockheed F-104 STARFIGHTER set?

- 438 pieces – The set consists of perfectly matched components that allow you to create a beautifully reproduced aircraft model.

- Moving parts – Moving parts increase the interactivity of the model and allow the reproduction of fighter maneuvers. The removable cockpit and the movable wheels with rubber tires add dynamism and make the model more lifelike.

- Historical prints – The model features vivid prints from the Vietnam War era, reproduced with extraordinary attention to detail.

- Stand and plaque – The included stand with a transparent shaft and a plaque with the set name allows for a professional presentation of the model in your collection and makes it look great on a shelf or in a display case.
