Description

Create a diorama of the French campaign to Egypt and add a real gem to your Napoleonic collection!

Although Napoleon Bonaparte is mainly associated with campaigns in Europe, his most exotic expedition took place far beyond the old continent, on the banks of the Nile, in the shadow of the pyramids. Thanks to the "Egyptian Campaign 1798–1801" set from COBI, you can recreate one of the most unexpected episodes in French history: the Egyptian campaign. Build a historical diorama from the time when Bonaparte's army not only fought but also explored the heritage of ancient Egypt. Join the discoverers of the mysterious Rosetta Stone and experience this extraordinary expedition up close!

The Egypt Expedition – War, Science, and Archaeology!

In 1798, Napoleon decided on an unexpected target: Egypt. The campaign had a military basis but was also accompanied by a scientific mission. 167 scholars were aboard the French ships. The expedition began with the conquest of Alexandria, followed by a victory in the famous Battle of the Pyramids. Admiral Nelson's fleet destroyed Napoleon's ships at Abukir and cut off his army from France.

The expedition ended militarily with a defeat but brought Europe an enormously increased interest in ancient Egypt. During this time, the Rosetta Stone was discovered, which later enabled the deciphering of hieroglyphs and founded modern Egyptology.

The set contains:

- A figure of General Jean-Baptiste Kléber – an experienced commander who took command after Napoleon's return.

- A figure of Lieutenant Pierre-François Bouchard – an officer who discovered the Rosetta Stone on July 15, 1799.

- A Mamluk figure – a representative of the Muslim elite cavalry, designed in detail with turban, robe, and saber.

- A model of the Rosetta Stone with print – reproduces a fragment of the trilingual inscription (hieroglyphs, Demotic, and Greek).

- A fragment of the Egyptian landscape – a mini diorama over 20 centimeters long with a date palm, coastal strip, and desert landscape.

- A decorative plaque with the set name – a block with the print "Campagne d’Égypte 1798–1801" that fits perfectly into the display case.

Advantages of the set "Campagne d’Égypte (1798–1801)":

High-quality workmanship – The set is characterized by high precision and attention to detail. It contains no conventional stickers, but exclusively high-quality prints for longevity and an excellent appearance.

Mini-diorama – A compact diorama over 20 cm large with a section of the Nile Valley, the Rosetta Stone, and a desert landscape. It is perfect as a toy or as part of larger collector dioramas.

Intuitive instructions – Thanks to the simple and understandable instructions, assembly is no problem even for less experienced model builders.

Ideal for young and old – The set is perfect for young model builders (from 6 years old) and awakens enthusiasm for the history of ancient Egypt. It is a real eye-catcher on the shelf of an experienced collector.

Discover other sets from the "Napoleonic Wars" series, combine them, and create your own scenarios! Build the pyramids and recreate the battle beneath them, recapture Alexandria, or lead Napoleon's troops according to your wishes. During assembly, you will learn more about the dramatic history of the Army of the Orient and the significance of the discovery of the Rosetta Stone. Did you know that Napoleon himself spent a night in the Great Pyramid and his scholars produced a twelve-volume work?
