The ORP Dzik was a U-class submarine handed over to Poland by Great Britain in 1942. Although commissioned later than the ORP Sokół, it quickly earned a reputation as one of the most effective Polish submarines of World War II. Its documented successes include five sunk ships with a total tonnage of approximately 8,650 GRT, three sunk landing craft, and one damaged enemy ship. Together with the ORP Sokół, it formed the legendary duo of the "Dreadful Twins," whose legend has become an integral part of 20th-century naval history. After the war, the submarine was returned to the Royal Navy and subsequently transferred to the Danish Navy – initially designated U1, later renamed "Springeren." In October 1957, it finally returned to the Royal Navy and was scrapped in April 1958.
