COBI® DR BR 03 Steam Locomotive & Water Crane - Executive Edition

The "Trains" collection from COBI receives a new attraction with the BR03 steam locomotive in the Executive Edition. This detailed model consists of 2,721 elements and is enhanced with figures and a water crane. The powerful express locomotive used to pull heavy passenger trains and accelerate them to a dizzying speed of 120 kilometers per hour. Today, it can take your breath away and enrich the collection of every railway fan with a sense of self-respect!

The model issued by COBI is BR03 273. The locomotive measures just under 70 centimeters and consists of about 2,700 elements. The new large wheels for express locomotives catch the eye immediately. The steam locomotive features all the important shapes of its original model. The durable construction makes the locomotive heavy, but it also functions flawlessly. The system of rotating gears attached to the frame ensures that the wheels, which are connected to the steam piston via connecting rods, rotate like a real locomotive. Interesting design features include: a reproduced cab with chimney, gas lever, and other elements important for controlling the locomotive, as well as a stoker's room that can be opened. The locomotive is equipped with a block tender, which is necessary to power the steam locomotive. The actual tender of the BR03 locomotive held 32 cubic meters of water and 10 tons of coal. The block tender is manufactured in an interesting way, as it has a removable coal load. This allows our tender to be either empty or fully loaded with coal. The model features detailed prints with the markings of the locomotive, the Deutsche Reichsbahn, and the necessary technical tables.

In the Executive Edition version, we receive special figures: a locomotive driver in a classic railway uniform, a station master with a belt, and a coal woman with a red hat, as well as a stoker with a bare torso, a simple railway freight car with a shovel in his hand. Additionally, we receive a block display stand, which shows a track fragment with a slope and the name of the set, as well as a water crane. The crane is necessary for the continuous watering of the steam locomotive and was therefore located at every station in the past.

Locomotives of the 03 series were built between 1930 and 1938 as express locomotives on routes with a maximum axle load of 18 tons. 298 examples of this locomotive, whose design was based on the locomotive of the 01 series, were manufactured by Borsig, Krupp, Henschel, and Schwartzkopff. Locomotives of this type pulled the most luxurious and prestigious express trains. They were also part of several special trains, including: "Amerika." After the war, BR03 locomotives were delivered to West Germany, East Germany, and the People's Republic of Poland.
