The BWP-1 is a Soviet armored personnel carrier that entered service in the mid-1960s. As the first mass-produced vehicle of its kind, it combined mobility, amphibious capability, and heavier armament. The BMP-1 formed the backbone of mechanized units in many armies worldwide for decades. Poland has handed over many of its BMP-1s to Ukraine.
