Production of various versions started in 1939. Other combat vehicles were also built on its basis. It was produced in four production models, from A to D, and 23 basic and field versions, the standard and most numerous of which was the Sd.Kfz.251/1 armored personnel carrier. The armored hull was made of welded armor plates. The front section ended behind the driver's seat. It protected the driver, commander and engine. The fighting compartment accommodated 10 soldiers. The rear, large, outward opening door allowed access to the interior.The half-track armored personnel carrier Sd. Kfz. 251 Ausf. D was faithfully reproduced using COBI construction blocks.
